The descendant of Gold Rush immigrants, Ida Rae Egli has always enjoyed the comfort that is California – except when traveling the world. Egli is the editor of No Rooms of Their Own: Women Writers of Early California, 1848-1869; and Women of the Gold Rush: “The New Penelope” and Other Stories (Heyday Books, Berkeley) as well as short fiction and poetry. Her latest novel, Krisanthi’s War: in Hitler’s Greece, has been met with generous praise, and has five star ratings on both Amazon.com and GoodReads.com. She has years of experience teaching literature, creative writing, and memoir workshops, and puts her talents to use as a developmental book editor when she isn’t working on her own writing. She lives with her Greek husband, Kosta P’manolis, on the Sonoma Coast and has two children.
